Anderson Makes the NCAA 1500 meter Finals
Emily Anderson ran the second-fastest 1,500m in school history Thursday night, advancing to Saturday’s finals at the NCAA Track and Field Championships.
Running in a high-powered preliminary heat that included 2008 indoor mile champion Hannah England and six-time NCAA champion Sally Kipyego, Anderson ran 4:18.33 and out-sprinted Stanford All-American Alicia Follmar down the stretch to finish fifth in the heat and claim the 12th and final spot in Saturday’s championship heat. Her time ranks second in school history, behind only the 4:17.02 she ran last month at North Carolina. The 1,500m championship is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, at 5:12 Eastern time. Tribe fans stand a good chance of catching the action live on CBS, which will be broadcasting from the NCAA Championships from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m EST. Results (photo from desmoinesregister.com)
