Big Day at VTech Invitational
Women: To begin with the women set a new school record in the DMR ousting the team that had Coach Newberry on it and and replacing it w. a 11:39.61 w. Heather Belchner, Avery Mattingly, Kelly McElroy and Meghan Burns which qualified for the ECAC meet. Joining that team at the ECAC meet will be Kazuba (PV) in 12-9.5, Sallie Ford (5K) in 17.30, Ashley Williams and Carly Morse in the SP, Belcher, McElroy, Mattingly and Burns all in the 1000 meters, etsy Graney (3000m) in 9:44 and Kayley Byrne also in the 3K and Williams in the weight throw. Men: Jon Grey scorched the field in the 5K running 13:52 to provisionally qualify for the NCAA (and is now ranked 9th in the US) meet and notching him as the second fastest indoor and 5th fastest all time W&M. In the 1000 meters, five runners scored IC4A times led by Chris TysoN (2:25.91), Harry Miller, Liam Anastasia-Murphy, Sean Mahoney and Zach Tennant. "Only" four qualifiers came out of the 3K w. Tom Burke leading the way in 8:14.56 and followed by Colin Lead, Lewis Woodward and Pete Asaro. Zach Jordan also met the IC4A standard in the weight throw. More and more

Mann '00 Runs 4:47
Ali Mann '00 dipped (barely) under the USA qualifying standard with her 4:47.03 (thanks to Kenneth Schmidt for alerting me to the accomplishment. Above is an interview with her after the race.

Liberty Quad Meet
At the Liberty Quad meet Lewis Woodward ran 4:09.82 followed by Liam Anastasia-Murphy (4:10.91), Brian Sklodowski (4:14) and Tom Burke (4:14.7) all qualified for the IC4A meet. Matt Clark ran 8.42 and Chris McIntosh, 8.49 in the 60 hurdles to notch the 3rd and 4th best W&M times in the event. More

The women also had multiple ECAC qualifiers starting with Ashley Williams who won the shot in 46-4 (4th all time) and 52-6.5 in the weight throw. Carly More also qualified for ECAC in the shot put as did as did Nicole Kazuba in the pole vault in 12-3.5. More

Kathy Newberry finished 10th, 2 out from making the world team, at the USA Cross Country Championships. Newberry has made the team numerous times in the past. The race is above. Results

Multiple Qualifications for Post Season
Between bouts with "Snowverkill," I am behind. Nonetheless the W&M team avoided the snow up in DC to to to the Vince Brown meet in Newport news. Ashley Williams (SP), Nicole Kazuba (PV), Meghan Burns and Kayley Byrne (3K) and Heather Beichner (mile) all qualified for the ECAC meet. But there's more for the women.

The men took a much smaller team with Zach Jordon winning the weight throw for a #4 all-time W&M throw and a IC4A qualifier. More
