Fred Hardy Invite Videos
Here are some nice videos from Coach Davis. First we have Chris McIntosh who ran 55.61 and Matt Heidman with a 57.52 in the 400 hurdles, Katie Guevel in the 100 meter hurdles where she ran 14.50, Lynnie Bresnehan in the triple jump, Cam Shriver in the high jump as he clears 2.00 meters and above is Brandon Heroux's winning javelin throw (and W&M).
Goggin Runs 2:25 at USA Masters
For those of you who ran in the late 80s, you well remember Jim Goggin, who was a middle distance coach and is still racing. A few weeks ago at the USA Masters Championships, he ran 2:25 on the victorious 4x800 team and then came back and ran 2:28 for 10th overall, beating a former world record holder Henry Rono. Last year the same team set an age group world record. More

Baird's/Heroux School Records Set Early Outdoor Tone
Natalie Baird set a frosh and school record in the discus at the Fred Hardy with her 152-8 throw that also gets her into the ECAC meet. Katie Guevel won the 100 hurdles (14.50), Dana Harvey was second in the 400 (57.93) and Ashley Madonick was second in the 800 (2:13.93). Finishing in third place were Guevel in the jevelin in 119-5, Dana Harvey in the 200 (25.97) and Betsey Graney in the 1500 (4:41.25). More

For the men, Brandon Heroux broke his frosh javelin record with a todd of 221, mkaing him #2 all time at W&M and once again qualifying for all the post season meets. Lian Anastasia-Murphy also ran a 1:54.54 for second while Cam Shriver jumped 6-6.75 for 3rd.

Raleigh Relays
As a former 10,000 meter person, I love it when a W&M runners run great 10Ks and Jon Grey did just that last night in 29:25 which gets him to the IC4A and provisional NCAA . Colin Leak ran 29:43 in the same race. They now are 7th and 10th on the all-time W&M list. For the women, Lynn Morelli ran 16:49 and qualified for the NCAA regionals while Meghan Burns and Kayley Bryne ran 17:04 and 17:05.

Ed Moran finished 60th at the world xc race while Kathy Newberry was 40th.

This is a pretty nice feature, by the way as it has bios on all the better runners in the world. Here is the one for Moran and here is Kathy Newberry and while we are at in, here is Sean Graham who was one of Ed's teammates and is currently on the mend from surgery.

Kathy was named the captain of the US cross country team.

ECAC/IC4A Video
Flotrack made it easy to cover the IC4A meet, but here are several that Coach Davis took at the ECAC meet and more to come in the next day or so. First, here is Carly Morse who was 6th in the shot put with a best throw of 43-05." Above is Katie Guevel in the 60 meter hurdle finals where she was 4th in a school record time of 6.85 (notice Juice got the call incorrect!), here is the semis and here she is qualifying for the semis. Finally here is Cam Shriver clearing 2.04 meters on his first attempt at the IC4A meet.

Tribe Open
Star recruit Natalie Baird (click here for some of her high school info) broke the frosh record in the discuss w. a 144-9 making her #2 on the all time list and qualifying for the ECAC meet. Baird and Ashley Williams then threw the 8th and 10th farthest W&M throws for the shoet put. Joining them at the ECAC meet will be Abby Lemon who was first in the hammer in 166-11. All around star, Katie Guevel won four events while Elizabeth Crowley and Ashley Madonick won the 100 and 800 meter races respectively. More

For the men, Brandon Heroux set a frosh record with a 211-3 mark in the javelin and qualified for the USAT&F Junion National meet, the NCAA regional and the IC4A meet and now ranks 3rd all time for W&M in the event. Senior Cam Shriver was 2nd in 167-6 which places him 10th on the all time list. Brian Sklodowski and Sean Mahoney went 1-2 in the 800 with 1:53.47 and 1:54.50. Also winning were Kiernan Lofland, Matt Clark and Chris McIntosh in the pole vault, 110 meter and 400 meter hurdles, respectively. More

Fitzgerald Earns All-American
By virtue of his 9th place finish (top 8 Americans= All-Am), Ian earned his first All-American title by running 4:03.37. Look for interviews next week with the Ian and Emily.

Fitzgerald Interview After Qualifying Race
Anderson Earns Second All-American Title
Emily Anderson earned her second All-American title by finishing 9th in the 5K at the NCAA meet in 16:03. 04. It ranks as the fastest W&M time ever for either indoor or outdoor track.
Fitzgerald Qualifies for Mile Finals
Ian Fitzgerald ran a 4:01.49 to become the third fastest (of 10) to make the finals in the mile. Ian will be racing at 5;10 tomorrow (Texas time). Anderson will run later tonight. If it doesn't show Emily below, you can definitely see her live here.

Fitzgerald & Anderson Make NCAA Meet
IC4A Champ, Ian Fitzgerald officially made the NCAA meet as the 12th seed in the mile. Emily Anderson, who was an All-American last spring in the 1500 made it to the 5K and entered as the 10th seed in 16:06. Both of them will be running this Friday. I'll get more as I find it during the week, but for now, go here for live results on Friday. There are a few places where you can go for video, pictures, etc. One is Flotrack and Runnerspace.

Women Score Multiple All-East Honors
Nicole Kazuba and Emily Jeremiah finished 2nd and 6th in 13-1.5 and 12-5.5 with Kazuba's mark setting a new school record in the pole vault. Katie Guevel broke her own 55 meter hurdle mark - again - this time in 8.65 to finish 4th. In the 500 Ashley Madonick was 5th in 1:13.54 in the 500 meters while the 4x800 meter team finished 8th in 9:04.3. In the 3K Lynn Morelli and Kayley were 12th and 14th in the 3K while Ashley Williams was 16th in the weight throw. Overall the women finished 11th at the meet. More

The men finished 6th overall in the IC4A meet and other than noted in the blog entry below, Cam Shriver also finished 10th in the high jump in 6-8.25. Also look above and you can see Ian Fitzgerald's victory in the 1000 meters and go here to see the final of the mile and the 5K.
Fitzgerald Wins 1000!
Ian Fitzgerald won the 1000 meters at the IC4A meet in a time of 2:25.37. Brian Sklodowski was 7th in 2:27.70. In the 5000, Jon Grey and Ben Massam went 2 - 6 with times of 14:15.92 and 14:27.43. All of those runners as well as Lewis Woodward who was 5th in the mile in 4:08.76 earned all-east honors. Women's events later will come later, but here are there results from Saturday. All East Honors on 1st Day of 1C4A/ECAC
A number of W&M athletes earned All-East on the first day of competition at the ECAC/IC4A meet. Leading off was Carly Morse who was 6th in the shot put and Wilhelm Patterson and Colin Leak went 3 - 8 with times of 8:08.74 and 8:15.70. Wilhelm's time makes him the 6th best W&M performer in the event. Both Ian Fitzgerald and Brian Slodowski made the finals of the 1000 meters as did Lewis Woodward in the mile. Katie Guevel qualified for the finals in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.70 which broke her school record and Ashley Madonick also made it to the finals with a 1>14.3 in the 500 meters ranking her second on the W&M list. W&M Top Ten Performances Abound
Soph Katie Guevel broke her school record in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.67 in finishing second at the GMU Last Chance meet and qualified for the ECAC meet. She also was 4th in the long jump in 5.04 meters and second in the high jump. Carly Morse just missed her performance from last year with a 45-3 in the shot put, a throw that only three others in W&M history have surpassed. Notching a 3rd all time W&M performance in the 5K was Emily Anderson who ran 16:08.49 who was paced by Coach Newberry who ran an identical time. Also qualifying for the ECAC meet were Nicole Kazuba and Emily Jeremiah in the pole vault. In the mile Emily Schroeder and Meghan Burns went 2-3 in 5:02 and 5:03 while Brittany Sevachko won the 1000 meters in 3:02.29 and Ashely Madonick did trhe same in the 500 meters. More and more
On the men's side Alex Ball was 3rd in the weight throw in 14.56 meters and Doug Zimmer was second in the pole vault in 4.65 meters. Cam Shriver was 3rd in the high jump in 6'6" and Chris McIntosh was second in the 500 meters in 1:07.28. More and more
