First Day of Colonials
W&M's Harry Miller qualified to the Regional, as well as for the IC4A Championships with his second-place steeplechase showing of 9:05.38 and qualifying for the IC4A meet was Rob Dennis who ran 9:08.63 for fourth. Andrew Mearns qualified for the USAT&F Junior National Championships in 9:37.86 as did Brian Skoldowski who ran 3:57.43 in the 1500 meters and Max Werner in 31:51.86. Winning that race was Ian Fitzgerald knocked out a 3:50.70 to qualify for the IC4A Championships. Florian Cords ran 50.15 for 19th place to become the tenth-fastest quarter-miler in school history. In the javelin Alex Heacock earned the bronze with his IC4A-qualifying effort of 192’ 6”. In the 5,000m run, all with IC4A-qualifying times, Ben Massam won with a sprint down the final straight-away to cross the line in 14:21.81, with Patterson Wilhelm in 14:22.07 and Charlie Swartz coming in 14:25.51. On the women's side Abby Lemon reset her own school record by more than three feet, throwing 167’ 7” to take the bronze medal and qualify for the ECAC Championships in the javelin. Betsy Graney won the 3,000m steeplechase with a Regional-qualifying time of 10:46.11 and broke the freshman record she set last week at Richmond and ranking fourth all-time at the College. In the 1500 metersEmily Anderson also qualified for the Regional with her personal-best effort of 4:26.87, which ranks her fourth in school history. Allie Lewis finished third in 2:11.91 in the 800 meters while Lynn Morelli outkicked the field over the final lap of the 5,000m run, claiming gold in an ECAC-qualifying time of 17:05.45. Emily Gousen finished third and also qualified for ECACs in 17:10.95. Katie Endres won the 10K in 37:40.30 while Rachel Ohm was second across the line in 39:14.87. More
