Colonial Relays' Reunion Survey

We are planning our third large William and Mary Track/XC reunion over Colonials (April 4-6) weekend.  If you are thinking of coming, please fill in this survey.  When we had it three years ago 150 attended and seven years ago we had 120.  We are also going to be celebrating Dan Stimson's induction into the Hall of Fame.

Zach Perkins (son of Randy '84) Makes Runner's World

Randy Perkins was a mile/3K runner when I was in college.  He has three sons, two of which are current runners on the Air Force team.  Zach was the NCAA Division I runner-up last spring and was interviewed recently here by Runner's World. 

Ethel Chernock Dies

I'll put up the memorial service details as soon as I know them.  For those of you who were on the team in the late 70s and 80s, Ethel Chernock was somewhat of a mom away from home.  She has been struggling with cancer for the past three years (after being told she had six months to live).  She died last night (2.3.14) at home with Roy at 7:30.  Roy and Ethel were married 62 years.  More soon. 

Evans Sets New Shot Put Record

Rochelle Evans threw a mammoth record of 48'2" in the shot put to break the school indoor record and qualify for the ECAC meet.  Elizabeth Crafford also qualified for the meet with a 11'9.75" ple vault jump.  More here. 

Frenia Closes in on George's Shot Put Record

Drexel George '77 just retired last spring as a long time Fairfax County, VA social studies teacher where he had deservedly earned a sterling reputation as one the leading world history educators. Now he is being (happily) stalked by Taylor Frenia who became just the second person (after George) to break the 57' barrier with an IC4A qualifying put of 57.025 at the VA Tech meet. Balouris is VA Athlete of the Year

Elaina Balouris has been named VA Athlete of the Year.  Balouris was an All-American in both in track and cross country.   Here is the entire story. 

Large Reunion Coming in 2014

We will be having the third large W&M Track/Cross Country reunion on April 4-6 2014.   If you are interested in attending, please go here and fill in some preliminary information.  More information will be forthcoming (hotels, events, etc., but for now please put it on your calendar).   in 2011 we had 150 people at our reunion and almost that many in 2007.  We will be celebrating Dan Stimson's induction in the Hall of Fame and his 26 years at W&M.  

Massey 5 K Money Raised by Track Teams

Every year the W&M track and cross country teams team up for the Massey 5K which is in November.  Above is a video explains it.  This year the team raised $20,000 adding to the total $150,000 that has been raised in the past thirty years.

Here are twenty-seven pictures taken by Tim O'Dowd who graduated in 1979.  It sure beats the way Randy Hawthorne used to tape photos to the blackboard in the locker room a few days after the event (yes that is one more thing he has done for the team!).
