Alumni Kids' Great Performances
If you were at W&M in the 1980s, you would well remember Marlon Mattis '84 and Val Roeder '85. Their sons are now doing amazing thing in track. Just this past Thursday, Marlin's son, Sam, threw 177'5" in the discus to finish 2nd at the Penn Relays. (Mattis and son in pic above)

Val's son, Mike Morrison, who competes for the University of California, set a school record and finished third in the process at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Four More IC4A/ECAC Qualifiers
The 2010 Penn Relays has proven to be a great meet for W&M. Today saw the women finish 13th in 9:07 in the 4x800 while the men did the same by finishing ninth. Brandon Heroux and Zach Jordan also qualified for the IC4A meet in the javelin and hammer throw respectively. More and more Also, here are all the races themselves.
Rebecca Allred, Chemist & Discus Thrower
Recently you all probably received an e-mail from senior discus thrower Rebecca Allred who ha an honors fellowship. In addition to her track prowess, she is "determing how to make derivatives of rhodamine dyes and studying their resposiveness to changes in pH." Penn Relays Pics
Thanks to Tim O'Dowd '80 for taking pics of the 3rd and 6th place men's and women's teams from earlier today.
Penn Performances Shine
The men built on Thursday's performances with a 3rd place in the DMR which is the 9th fastest W&M performance. More

The women have seen four qualify for the ECAC meet. Darcy McDonald and Sallie Ford both ran significant PRs in the 3 and 10K races. Ashley Williams finished 6th in the hammer while Natalie Baird was 10th in the discus. More

Men Win Twice at Penn
Lewis Woodward won in 14:01 the College Men's 5K and Colin Leak notched the victory in the 10K in 29:38. The race videos can be found here. More results later today and again you can watch Penn live on the screen below.

DOG Street 5K
While the tourists didn't appreciate it, one of the most enjoyable XC speed workouts I ever did
was to run from Confusion Corner to the wall of the House of Burgesses and back. Now you can do it and not worry about taking out tourists. The race is Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 8 for the 5K and 7:30 a.m for the fun run/walk 1 mile. To sign up and get details go to www.raceit.com.

Multiple ECAC/IC4A Qualifications at GMU
The women earned four victories and four ECAC qualifiers at GMU. The three victories/ECAC qualifiers were Nicole Kazuba (pole vault) in 12-9.5, Natalie Baird (discus) 147-6, Ashley Williams (hammer) in 151. Williams also notched an ECAC qualifier in the shot put. Finally Liz Barclay, a frosh, won the steeplechase. More

The men were led by Zach Jordan who not only won, but hit the only IC4A qualifier for the Tribe. Jordan threw the hammer 169-6. More
